WOODBURN

Woodburn a 2,555 ha beef breeding enterprise situated north of Walcha on the New England tablelands. Woodburn was purchased in 2011 with the goal of breeding our own home grown grass fed beef. The annual average rainfall of 730mm and 1,120m above sea level with lightly timbered country comprising of basalt and sandy loam soils.

Woodburn is the main breeding operation for Wilmot Cattle Co, with an Angus herd sourcing the best-proven performance genetics available. We are a self-replacing herd, sending the weaner steer portion to Wilmot at Ebor to be finished as high quality grass fed beef. When seasonal conditions permit Woodburn also turns over some trade cattle.

We are excited about the future of Woodburn, having made considerable investments in wire and water infrastructure, thus increasing animal density, and our ability to improve the ecological state of the farm. In addition to beef production, Woodburn may soon be generating revenue from renewables, biodiversity and carbon, demonstrating a real balance between ecological and profitability outcomes.
